Born and raised in Fairhope, Alabama, he was brought up in a tight-knit family enclave where cousins, church, and beach days filled the frame of his childhood. Summer nights were spent jumping on beds at his great-grandmother's house, learning to swim, crabbing at the bay, and sneaking to the skating rink with whatever change he could scrape together. Fairhope wasn’t just home—it was freedom, family, and the seedbed of his creative spirit.

But life had its turns. At 11, he was struck by a car while crossing the street after buying ice cream. The accident left him homebound for the rest of the school year, but in that time, something remarkable happened: he turned fully toward music. Already captivated by the piano at his church, he began spending hours playing alone, writing songs and recording them on cassette tapes. When the pastor gave him a key to the building, it felt like someone was unlocking more than just a door.

Years later, after achieving some success writing for others and chasing various entrepreneurial paths, Jason lost focus and made a string of decisions that landed him in federal prison. It was there, back in a chapel with another piano, that he found his way home to himself. During 16 months at a federal prison camp, he wrote over 30 original songs—confessionals, anthems, ballads. Songs about love, loss, about grace, about what it means to begin again.
